Have you ever noticed the guard, as he opened the door for us to enter, at the restaurant where we went? The bus boy when he cleaned our table? Or the waitress as she served us our meal? Have you ever stopped for one moment just to thank them for their services? Most of us, including yours truly, will answer no. Our rationale? Its their job, that is what they are being paid for. But it would really make their day if we recognize them every once in a while.
The same can be said of our service to our community. Some of us are waiting to be recognized for their contributions. Some would even feel bad if their names were not mentioned or recognized. Some would even justify their actions by saying "we are not being paid here, at least recognize us for our efforts".
Matthew 6:1-4 - But take care not to perform righteous deeds in order that people may see them; otherwise, you will have no recompense from your Heavenly Father. When you give alms, do not blow a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets to win praise of others. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what you right hand is doing, so that your alms giving may be secret. And your Father who sees in secret will repay you.It is true that we do not receive any monetary compensation for our services. But rest assured, our Father will compensate us in heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroys, and no thieves break in and steal.
Matthew 20:28 - Just so, the Son of Man did not come here to be served but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many.
