Richie Rich

As I was reading up on the gospel for today, about storing up riches in heaven, I was reminded of this old movie that I saw when I was young. Richie Rich was an adaptation from a comic book character about the richest kid in the world. In the movie, his father's CFO had a plot to steal the family's fortune believed to be hidden in the family vault. However, he was greatly disappointed to find out that they only kept childhood memories and family treasure in the vault because they value their family more than all their prized possessions.

In our fast changing world, where money usually dictates our way of living, people tend to mix up their priorities in life.Though it is true that we need to work hard for our family's future, we also need to have balance in our lives. Let us not forget the people whom we are working hard for. Let us remember our kids waiting at home while we work overtime just to make ends meet. Let us also remember our spouse who we sometimes tend to neglect because by the time we get home, we are too tired to notice them. Most importantly, let us remember our God who always lets the sun shine on us even if we neglect Him.

Let us store up our treasures in heaven. They are more important than our material treasures on earth.

Matthew 6:20-21 - But store up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor decay destroys, nor thieves break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.
