We woke up the next day and had an early breakfast. I was feeling a little ill and my head was aching, but we wish to explore Kalibo before going to Boracay in the afternoon. So off we go!
Our first stop is the Kalibo Cathedral. Located in front of Pastrana park. This cathedral houses the shrine of the Sto. Nino where, we experienced a small miracle.
As we were praying, I noticed a prayer for healing posted on the wall. I started to recite it, since I was not feeling well at the moment. Before even finishing my prayer, my headache was gone and I feel lighter than ever! This really is a sign of good things to come.
Visiting the cathedral turned out to be a good decision for us since there are a lot to see in its vicinity.
We had the chance to visit the Museo It Akean, which is at the right side of the cathedral. The museum houses a lot of cultural artifacts local to the province. We also learned some history of the place and how former congressman Godofredo P. Reyes became the "Father of Aklan".
On the left side of the cathedral was the Aklan Catholic College.
On the other side of the park was the Kalibo Police station which shares its building with the Kalibo Municipal Library.
Situated around the park are some major banks and fast food chains where you could have some light snacks. They even have their own seven eleven! =)
Once on the island, we checked in to our hotel, had lunch and rested a bit before we explored the beach. The winds are quite gusty this time of the year which brought about some big waves. Although the water was great, the waves are a bit too much for us so we retired after just a few hours.
After we freshened up, its time for us to hit the strip for our greatest weakness, food. We had our buffet dinner by the beach. The food was great, we could feel the find in our face and we had crashing waves for our background music. What else could you ask for? That will be answered on the third day of our honeymoon.
