Hard Way To Greatness

God's blessings are truly abundant! We enjoy them everyday and they don't seem to run out. However, there are also times when we can't even find one. As the saying goes, "when it rains, it pours", when our trials come, like our blessings, they don't seem to run out. Sometimes we just can't fathom where these trials even come from. We get so stressed that we don't know what to do anymore, and at one point, we even considered quitting.

It is at these times that I remind myself of the footprints in the sand. God is always there through good times and bad. And when things seem to go south, God is there to carry us through it all. It is a great comfort knowing this, but during hard times, we can't even remember who God is. At least not until the last minute.

This is why our burdens become heavy. We only come to God as a last resort, not as our only resort. It would be much easier for us if we just surrender everything to God even before the hardships come. And when they come, I assure you they will, let us turn to God, who will see us through it all.

Matthew 11:28-30 - Come to Me, all you who labor and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke and learn from Me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For My yoke is easy, and My burden light.
This passage also reminded me of the movie A League Of Their Own, where the lead character, played by Geena Davis, quit baseball because "it just got too hard". What struck me most was the reply of their coach, played by Tom Hanks when he said "it is supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard is what makes it great!". That short statement is true for all of us as each of our trials and burdens are tailored for us. God only gives us what we can handle. So the next time something comes your way, trials or challenges, just remember, God gave you that challenge because you are the best person for the job.

That is what makes it great!
