Ask...

We were stuck in traffic on the way to the mall when I made this short prayer: "Lord, please reserve a parking space for us." There was a big sale at the mall, which caused this traffic, and everybody wants to take advantage. The car parks were all packed and a lot of cars were still waiting for other people to vacate their spaces.

When we reached the second level, where I usually park, a car was pulling out of his parking space just in time for me to take his place. My son suddenly said "We're lucky we don't have to wait to get a parking space". To this I just replied, "We're not lucky. This space was reserved for us by God".We are truly blessed to have a faithful, loving God who is always there to answer when we call. That is why when we ask, we should be prepared to receive the blessings we prayed for because it is His promise that all we have to do is ask, and we shall receive.

I remember a few years ago when we had a shortage of water due to the lack of rain. We started to say a prayer, asking for rain, during mass. As expected, God answered our prayers. Rain came pouring down the very next day, after we prayed for rain. However, as a priest shared during his homily, some of us did not believe. The priest overheard one commuter say "bakit ba kasi umulan?" (why did it have to rain?). In his thoughts, the priest said, "you asked for rain but you did not bring an umbrella. what little faith you have".

Matthew 7:7-8 - Ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened. For everyone who asks, receives; whoever seeks, finds; and the door will be opened to him who knocks.
